Led Driving Light Bars - Are They Suitable For Your Car?

A light bar is a short or a long array of high-brightness LED lights. These supplement your vehicle’s stock headlamps. They offer a smarter, more extensive and penetrating beam of light ahead, behind or to the side. They furnish a substantial advantage for night driving or when illuminating trails, camping areas or work areas.

Light Bar Applications

  • Night Driving – Light bars can make a striking difference in road visibility over the brightest stock headlights.
  • Emergency Lighting – A light bar is indispensable for lighting accident or breakdown scenes. Their brightness also alerts other drivers to trouble ahead.
  • Backyards – A light bar will light up an entire yard for parties or cleanup actions. They produce an excellent prowler deterrent.
  • Boats – For increasing marine visibility and lighting landing sites or docks, light bars are ideal.
  • Great equipment – Snow plows, graders and tractors find light bars essential in poorly lighted conditions.
  • Off-road – When calling for your 4WD or ATV into the backcountry, a light bar is a must-have for hazard spotting or setting up campsites.
LED Driving Light bars are suitable for anybody who requires a highly effective vehicle warning system to warn other road users of their presence on the highway. These light bars are likewise an ideal up-grade from older halogen vehicle warning light bars. The LED Light Bar Range meets or goes past the regulations currently required for use on the road, arriving at these products suitable for just about every Emergency Vehicle requirements.

The initial purchase costs of these wares are not inexpensive, but you have to attend at the acquisition costs over the life of the war. Most manufacturers these days, including ours, are guaranteeing the LED's in their products for 5 years. They wouldn't answer this if they were not true.

Modern technology means that led light bars can be designed as extremely "Low Profile" which means considerably less drag when driving, resulting in increased fuel savings over a period of time, compared to the old halogen rotator light bar designs. Moreover, as LED's are not electric lights or lamps, there are no filaments to burn out requiring the bulb to be substituted. In fact, quality designed LED units will operate for between 50,000 and 100,000 hours.

LED light bars

  • LED light bars are turning an increasingly common aftermarket accessory fitment and are often put on vehicle roofs or bull bars.
  • LED light bars are fitted to the front of vehicles to better light up the route in front of the vehicle. They work as a postscript to the vehicle’s main beam (high beam) lamps.
  • Under the demands of Australian Design Rule (ADR) 13/00, additional lamps must be fitted in pairs in accordance with the requirements for driving lamps.
  • Nevertheless, the Commonwealth has commenced issuing approvals for the certification of new vehicles fitted with LED light bars that are not met in pairs in order to respond to this newfangled technology.
  • In summation, an amendment to Australian Design Rule, 13/00 is expected to be issued in January 2015 which will formally clarify these arrangements.

Certain constraints remain on the fitment of LED light bars. These include that the LED light bars must be fitted symmetrically to the vehicle and must not exceed a sum of four lamps.
